Where Do You Buy Your Beads From?

Our beads are all ordered from The Beach Chest: a website with beads from all around the world. Their mission is pure and they support the places they buy their beads from. We would love to buy more beads from smaller, local places, but with the times right now we have to resort to online purchases. If you know of a smaller African beads business in LA or close by please let us know and we will buy from them!

If I Identify As White, Will Wearing Your Products Be Considered Cultural Appropriation?

SHORT ANSWER: No, if you are an active anti-racist and wear our beads with love for African people (not just the culture)!

There is a fine line between cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation. For those of you who don't know, here are their definitions in our own words:

Cultural Appropriation = Privileged groups wearing/representing a certain minoritized culture through clothing, hairstyles, etc. in a harmful way

Cultural Appreciation = Loving and appreciating a minoritized group of people and expressing that in a way that uplifts or shows support for that said group

HOMELAND BEADING is

ALL. ABOUT. LOVE!

If you don't love Black people and only love Black culture, you've come to the wrong place! But, if you want to learn about us and appreciate not only our culture but our beautiful bodies and minds and souls, jump on in! The money you spend here is guaranteed to help both local Black and Brown businesses in Los Angeles AND businesses/organizations in Ghana.
